What we are doing!

Hey! In 6 weeks I am going down to Tanna Island and will be there for over 2 months! I am bringing a suitcase full of paints, sketch books, pencils, paintbrushes, and a camera, everything I need to teach children art and allow them the freedom to creatively express themselves. I will be going into villages and schools taking pictures of their art and teaching art classes. I will be working with the minister of education and Principal of Lenekal Primary School to find our first child to sponsor and set up an application process for future children.

Back home I will be bringing pictures and originals to sell to pay for the childrens schooling as well as help raise awareness. We will be using their art as well as collaborating with other artists here that would like to donate their art to the cause. We will be making the art into post cards and prints to sell. You can help by buying the art, donating your own art, donating art supplies for the children and sharing this with all your friends that might be interested!

  1. What kind of art supplies can you take to Tanna? Is it best to order stuff that will be shipped there or is delivery sometimes a problem? I'm excited to see this project taking off because I think it has amazing potential for doing good.

  2. Thank you! Yes delivery is a problem so we have to take anything we need down with us. The children down there have never been exposed to art supplies so we are bring paper, paint brushes, acrylic and water color paints and any other art supplies we think the children will have fun with.

  3. Would it be best to donate funds to you so you can buy the supplies where ever you are? Do you have something set up that we can donate on-line?

  4. Yes we are just setting that up. There is a donate button at the top of the blog. All funds donated will go directly to Painting for Poverty, to use for art supplies and then funding children's education. For all those who donate we will set a postcard or print of one of painting for poverty's paintings! thanks!
